From the yurt to the caravan, the teepee to the crazy, the hut has now landed on our doorsteps. Cardboard, wood, fibres; all the materials used take the environment into consideration. Each model is unique and produced to demand. At present, two huts are under way: la barricabane (The Barricade Hut), a model made entirely of wood from protected forests, and la maison en ligne (The Online House), a structure of marine plywood covered over with strips of felt. In 2011, 13 huts will be constructed in the heart of Central Park. Still supplying dreams, 3cabanes is in the process of establishing itself all over the world, in locations as sensitive as they are prestigious: from the shanty towns of Rio to the Château de Versailles, from the plateaus of Atlas to the roofs of Paris.

At the origin of the 3cabanes project is Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut, aged 36; an architect and designer with an unusual career path. Project manager alongside Edouard François, then artistic director in the luxury industry, Mathiaut later turned to the creation and edition of  landscape furniture, collaborating most notably with Antoine et Manuel and Florence Doléac. In parallel with the launch of his Atelier (Workshop), he realised Issey Miyake’s Paris boutique and developed his own range of Corian furniture.
